Layer by layer, I build the forest. I become the architect and the builder of organic, natural forms, allowing me to play with scale. I can magnify small details that go unseen, and wash over others, forcing the viewer to position themselves within the scene and create their own narrative. I hope that by experiencing my work, by ‘walking through it’, viewers perceptions of the natural world are shifted and enhanced. I want viewers to walk away with a feeling of having been lost in the forest, of coming back to reality, and taking with them a desire for a deeper awareness of the beauty of nature. This work is constructed using ink and Albrecht Dürer Artists' Watercolour Pencils on Arches 300gsm watercolour paper.
