Colca Canyon, Peru, one of the deepest in the world. A rugged landscape that intrinsically decries any form of human development due to its sheer inaccessibility and incredible magnitude. This is low tech place, where Condors rule the sky and humanity treads carefully, if at all.

My artwork aims to express this natural simplicity by distilling the landscape into its constituent rough layers. Perhaps paradoxically however, my method is high tech; this Aerosol stencil artwork on paper is created via a process of digitally editing a photograph, using CAD drawing technology to manually trace the stencil layers, laser cutting the stencil templates, and spray painting the imagery in multiple layers on paper. This stencil template took 9 months to draw in CAD, with over 18,000 "polyline" shapes used to develop the topography of the image. Anticlimactically, it took 1 hour to actually spray paint.
