I have drawn the Black Cockatoo in all its species/varieties for some time now – I love their character, their slow wing beats and their noisy chorus. Since moving to the Hunter Valley I’ve been lucky enough to see them fly over my home most days; I’ve been contemplating their loss of habitat, food source and nesting sites due to clearing for agriculture and poorly considered residential developments. In this work I would like people to consider how they would feel if there home was compulsory acquired to make way for someone else’s home. Isn’t it better to design residential neighborhood's that embrace the existing landscape and live in harmony with the existing inhabitants.
