This years theme resonated so much with me and my art practice.

After moving to Newcastle, the first impressions of this beautiful city set a different platform and tone to my approach towards my art-making process. The surrounds of this city, steeped rich in history coupled with the quaint feel and welcoming buzz inspired me to reimagine my colour palette and create pieces that resonated with my surroundings.
And as such, I am always inspired by the intrigue I find surrounding me. It maybe a certain form or arrangement that catches my eye, or my drives within this city and its surrounds or fleeting notions across my mind or a collective of these that motivate me. And this is visible in the intricacies of colour personified on a canvas with marks and textural details.
This work of mine echoes the rawness in the history that is still so evident in the different spaces of this region we come across in our daily lives.
