This work continues my exploration of the intersection of domestic textiles and architecture, the home and the house. I am drawn to the spiral staircase for its dreamlike resonance. Spiral staircases go up to the top of the enchanted castle, to the secret library behind the bookcase door, through the clouds to where the giants live. For me, the domestic space is infused with meaning and memory, embodied in the very fabric of the home - the step we walk on or quilt we use every day, that allow us to travel through time and space.
